Message from the President

With various social issues such as environmental issues becoming increasingly severe, the demand and expectations from society for companies to engage in sustainability management are increasing at an accelerating pace.

In December 2020, the Group comprehensively extracted social issues to be considered, including global frameworks such as the SDGs, and then organized and identified six areas of materiality (material issues) from the two perspectives of degree of importance to the AIN Group and degree of impact on stakeholders.

In May 2021, we set key initiatives, KPIs, and fiscal 2025 targets for each area of materiality, and 29 project teams are currently engaged in specific activities.

The materiality areas of  “Contribute to local healthcare” and “Provide beauty and happiness” are also part of our mission in continuing our core dispensing pharmacy business and cosmetic and drug store business, and we believe that we will be able to both solve social issues and enhance corporate value through our main business.

Furthermore, in November 2022, we expressed our commitment to and signed the United Nations Global Compact, supporting its four areas and Ten Principles. We will put them into practice through our business activities and thereby contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

In addition, as the manner of information disclosure significantly changes, we have shifted from publishing the conventional Annual Reports centered on financial information to Integrated Reports that showcase financial and non-financial information consolidated into a single value creation process. We have also disclosed an ESG Data Book in line with publishing the Integrated Report.

In addition to the conventional financial information, we have elaborated on the human resource strategy and respect for human rights, digital transformation strategy, reinforcement of the management base, and progress with KPIs and initiatives of each area of materiality. We will continue to strive for enhanced accurate information disclosure to our stakeholders.

The Group will continue striving to be a company that our diverse range of stakeholders welcome to their communities, including customers, patients, employees, medical and nursing care professionals, shareholders, investors, local communities, and business partners, and work toward achieving a sustainable society as proposed by the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
